TAIWAN-BASED smartphone maker HTC Corp has reported sharply higher profit in the third quarter due to recovering market demand.

Its third-quarter report showed that the company’s net profit jumped 28.4 percent year on year to NT$96.71 billion (US$3 billion).

This marks a jump of 33.4 percent from the second quarter.

Sales revenue totaled NT$260.41 billion, up 22.5 percent from the same period a year ago.

Earnings per share was NT$3.73.

The company foresees sales revenue at between NT$255 billion and NT$258 billion in the fourth quarter.
