Hackers show skills at contest
EXPERT hackers were out in force during GeekPwn 2017, Shanghai’s biggest annual security contest, yesterday as they tried to “hack” smart devices that boast new features including biometric identification and artificial intelligence.
Eighty security experts attended the contest as they tried to “hack” 40 devices and services, including Pos machine, automatic door, smartphone, router and public cloud storage services.
Around 100 billion yuan (US$14.7 billion) are expected to be lost through data loopholes and malware annually, three times the size of the whole cyber security services market, according to industry insiders.
