HUAWEI Technologies launched its flagship Mate 9 model costing up to 9,000 yuan (US$1,315), the highest smartphone price in the company’s history, as it showed its ambition to challenge Samsung and Apple in the premium market segment.
The woes over Samsung Galaxy Note 7 have left room for Chinese brands to penetrate the high-end segment, research firms said.
