Jack Ma will resign as Alibaba CEO in May
JACK Ma, founder and chairman of China's largest e-commerce company Alibaba Group, said he will step down as chief executive officer as he believes the company should be managed by a younger, more capable executive.
Ma said in an open letter published today that he will quit the post of group CEO on May 10 to focus on making strategies as chairman of Alibaba's board of directors.
He will help the new CEO with talent recruitment and training work and oversee the group's charity undertakings.
"I'll pass my leadership positions to more people who were born in the 70s and 80s and have a better view about the future," Ma said.
Alibaba will set up a strategic committee and an executive management committee to take care of the group's decision making.
