Johnson Controls sets up HQs in Shanghai
GLOBAL sustainable technology firm Johnson Controls Inc opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai yesterday, and its CEO Alex Molinaroli said “the world no longer flows West to East, but rather East to West“ at the opening ceremony to stress the importance of the Chinese market.
The building of the headquarters itself is a profess of the firm’s technology, which is “smarter and greener” with consumption of 44 percent less energy, 42 percent less water, and 21 percent less embodied energy in materials compared with no use of such technology.
Johnson Controls specializes in intelligent buildings and efficient energy alternatives. The company has 120,000 employees worldwide spread out over 2,000 locations and extends its services to customers in over 150 countries.
Some notable features of the new building include floor-to-ceiling air conditioning, air filter technology which not only filters, but removes pollutants, and batteries and solar panels to power parts of the building. Moreover, advanced controls technology and data analytics are utilized to optimize energy usage in tandem with alternative energy sources.
