Long history of state-city cooperation
SHANGHAI and Australia's Queensland state signed several agreements yesterday to cooperate on talent communications and new drug discovery.
Shanghai's Vice Mayor Tang Dengjie and Andrew Fraser, Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development, yesterday signed the ninth memorandum of understanding between the two sides to promote the sister state-city relationship and enhance communication and cooperation in various areas.
"The two regions' technology cooperation started 21 years ago, a long history," Peter Andrews, chief scientist of the Queensland Government, told Shanghai Daily.
Other agreements were also signed, including a new Australia-China Joint Drug Discovery Laboratory between Queensland's Griffith University and the Institute Pasteur Shanghai of the China Academy of Science.
