New game testing to start soon

GIANT Interactive will start official beta testing of ZT Online 2, the company's most important game after its ZT Online, in April, the New York-listed online game firm said yesterday.

Shanghai-based Giant hopes that the new game will boost its revenue as it introduces a new business model of in-game transactions besides earning through time-based or item-based income.

Giant developed the ZT Online 2, a martial arts multiplayer online role playing game, over three years. The game, with 200,000 peak concurrent users (PCU) during internal testing without any special promotion, will start official beta testing on April 8. Giant won't charge users to play the game, but will charge 5 percent of the transaction value of the items players buy, according to Ji Xuefeng, vice president of Giant.

"The biggest attraction of ZT Online 2 is its totally free and fair game environment," Ji said during a conference yesterday.
