Retail and Internet to push tech integration
CHINA’S retail and Internet sectors will deepen integration with advanced technologies like artificial intelligence to meet consumer demand and boost innovation and economy upgrading, industry officials said yesterday.
“Traditional retail industry can create new energy and charm with intelligence upgrading, such as adopting Internet Plus applications,” said Zhang Lijun, vice chairman of the China General Chamber of Commerce.
Diversification and Internet integration have become a new trend of modern retail malls, like using smart parking technology to help drivers find a parking spot or adopting Beacon which is an indoor connection technology allowing shop owners to send information to consumers nearby, Qu Dejun, president of the Wanda Internet Technology, a high-tech subsidiary of Wanda Group, said during a conference to promote the annual Shanghai International Commerce Convention.
The event, which will gather over 100 high-tech exhibitors, will be held in August.
