Samsung’s phone just for China
SAMSUNG Electronics launched a new smartphone yesterday specifically designed for China, the world’s biggest smartphone market where domestic brands are gaining shares.
The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, with C for China, costs 3,199 yuan (US$470) and comes with a 6-inch screen, full metal design, video feature for selfie fans and easy to share on Tencent’s WeChat.
The China-developed model, supporting domestic mobile apps, targets young consumers and is Samsung’s first new product released in the country after the woes surrounding the Galaxy Note 7 which was eventually suspended.
Samsung aims to win back reputation and re-establish itself in the domestic market with the C series, the company said in Shanghai yesterday.
Oppo, Vivo and Huawei were the top-three smartphone vendors by sales in the Chinese market in the third quarter, said research firms.
