Security boosted in new phones
GIONEE’S new smartphones come with an enhanced security chip targeting business users who are concerned about mobile security.
Over 100 billion yuan (US$15 billion) are lost annually in China through the black industry chain of Internet security loopholes covering data leakages among firms, according to Alibaba.
Gionee debuted its M6 and M6 Plus in Beijing yesterday, which are equipped with a specifically designed security chip — the first in its kind in the smartphone industry.
A unique security chip will keep the phone’s data encrypted so that call logs, documents and data are kept safe, Gionee said.
