CHINESE vendors consolidated their leading positions in the domestic smartphone market in the first quarter, a Canalys report said yesterday. China’s smartphone sales grew 9.3 percent year on year to 114 million units in the quarter. The most popular phones cost between US$350 and US$450. The top-five vendors were Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Apple and Xiaomi. The new No. 6 player, Gionee, outstripped global smartphone leader Samsung’s market share in China for the first time.
