VR set to be highlight at Chinajoy
VIRTUAL reality is set for the spotlight at this week’s Chinajoy game fair.
Sony and HTC will release their latest VR products and services at China’s biggest game fair where a VR summit will also be held. Sony is planning to announce its strategy for PlayStation VR in China tomorrow.
Over 600 firms, including LeEco, China Mobile, Bilibili and China Reading, will attend the four-day fair, which opens on Thursday, to show latest trends in films, games, animation and audio products and services.
Shanghai’s game industry revenue hit 49.9 billion yuan (US$7.5 billion) in 2015, a surge of 32.4 percent year on year. It accounted for 35 percent of the national game revenue, according to local government data. In 2015, Shanghai exported games worth US$700 million, up 31 percent from a year ago.
