Xiaomi unveils e-finance via own phones
XIAOMI Corp, which boasts more than 100 million users, launched online financial services yesterday following similar moves by dot-com giants Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent.
Users are able to access the new MI Finance services through their Xiaomi handsets.
“We now offer users reliable and easy finance management methods through MI Finance,” said Hong Feng, Xiaomi’s co-founder who is in charge of the new services.
Xiaomi also aims to unveil new products related to the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index “within several months,” the company said.
By cooperating with e-funds, Xiaomi expects to offer financial products that can yield annual investment return of 4.9 percent for users.
In 2014, China’s asset management market revenue hit 167 trillion yuan (US$26.9 trillion), according to Shanghai-based research firm Wind.
Xiaomi now has more than 100 million users worldwide, who use its handsets, TVs, smart wristbands and mobile operating system.
