Efforts to develop new graphene fiber preparation technology launched by local firm

A local company has teamed up with scientists from China, United States and Germany to develop a new graphene fiber preparation technology, which could make graphene completely combined with high polymer materials under room temperature.

The technology developed by Shanghai Kyorene New Material Technology Co, which won patent home and abroad, was recognized by expert group consisted of domestic leading university professors and academicians in the city yesterday.

Graphene is the lightest and thinnest material detected by human so far, while it is also the strongest one.

It has been introduced to fields of electricity, new material, new energy batter and health, however the high cost and difficulty of graphene preparation technology influence the industry’s quick development.

The Shanghai company cooperated with scientists home and abroad to study grapheme fiber, which have the effects of antibiotics, anti-mite, cut resistance and anti-static.

“The biggest challenge is to make graphene fully combined with fiber and we had been making researches since 2009,” said Sha Xiaolin, the company’s president.
