Higher is better

TEREX Corp, a United States construction equipment maker, said China's market for aerial work platforms is booming, spurred by demand from shipyards, airports and factories as well as tightening safety requirements.

It is a US$100-US$150 million market in China, with an annual growth rate of 20-30 percent, said X.S. Koo, vice president and managing director for the Asia-Pacific operations of Terex Aerial Work Platforms.

"It's a market in the making," Koo said yesterday in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, where the company opened a new plant for work lifts and platforms that enable people to work safely and efficiently.
