Siemens sets up its Asia Pacific experience center in Beijing

GERMAN industrial group Siemens launched a “digitalization experience center” in Beijing today to show its smart manufacturing cases, tapping China’s “high-potential” smart manufacturing market.

The center is to serve as an experience hub for the Asia Pacific, which “showcases how ‘digital factories’ work” to attract more Chinese and customers, said Wang Haibin, Siemens’s executive vice president for China.

China is a main market where Siemens “made major investments on digital factories,” according to the firm’s annual report. It sealed contracts worth 6.9 billion euros (US$7.8 billion) in China from October 2015 to September 2016, its last fiscal year, 3 percent higher from a year ago.

Siemens has worked with Chinese manufacturers such as Baowu Iron and Steel Group and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp to upgrade their production.
