Steel head probed for corruption
The head of state-owned Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel (Group) Co is being investigated as the Chinese government extends its crackdown on corruption in the steel industry.
Liang Jingli, chairman and Party secretary of Liuzhou Steel, has been put under investigation for “severe discipline violations,” the supervision department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said on its verified microblog yesterday afternoon.
It didn’t give details but the term “discipline violations” usually refers to corruption.
China has launched investigations into several high-ranking officials at government agencies and state-owned enterprises amid a campaign led by President Xi Jinping to root out corruption.
