Buying Picks Up In City
BUYING momentum for existing properties picked up slightly in Shanghai last month after some home owners offered modest discounts to trigger sales.
Transaction volume of existing properties, mainly houses, rebounded 10 percent in June from a month earlier, said Century 21 China Real Estate.
A total of 6,800 units of existing properties were sold in Shanghai in May, the lowest since October 2008, it said.
"Transaction volume of homes with a price tag of less than 20,000 yuan (US$2,950) per square meter jumped the most from May, mainly fuelled by demand from end-users," it said.
