High hopes
MARRIOTT International Inc expects its China business to account for up to 70 percent of its Asia-Pacific operations within the next couple of years as the hotel operator further accelerates its expansion across the country, a senior executive said yesterday in Shanghai.
By footprint development, the United States-based company said it plans to increase its China portfolio to 84 properties across six brands by the end of 2014, from 56 now.
Of the 28 new hotels to be added around the country up to 2014, about half will be managed under the Marriott brand, the company said.
