Land parcels deal

A TOTAL of 12 land parcels covering a combined area of more than 370,000 square meters were sold yesterday in Shanghai for 2.466 billion yuan (US$370 million), according to real estate website Soufun.com.
Eight of the 12 pieces, however, were sold at starting prices, indicating a somewhat cooler land market after tightening policies by the government to curb housing speculation, Soufun research showed.
Residential plots, unlike commercial and industrial uses, continued to attract the most attention from real estate developers with one plot in outlying Jiading District fetching a per gross floor area price of 9,100 yuan per square meter, the highest sales price among the 12 pieces.
