AVIC In Joint Venture For Airplane Seats
AVIATION Industry Corp of China yesterday announced at the Paris Air Show it will set up a 1 billion euro (US$1.44 billion) joint venture with a Swiss air seat company.
The venture plans to capture 20 percent of the global market for commercial airplane seats.
The new venture, jointly formed by AVIC Aerospace Life-Support Industries Ltd and a Swiss air seat technology company, will be based in Xiangyang City in Hubei Province and capable of producing 110,000 airplane seats annually.
The Swiss company will offer technology and AVIC's subsidiary will supply facilities in Xiangyang, AVIC said.
AVIC also signed a deal with Boeing to set up a production and innovation center in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province.
