AVIC Sales Climb 55% In Non-aviation Sector

AVIATION Industry Corp of China generated 22.65 billion yuan (US$3.34 billion) in sales from its non-aviation civilian business in the first half of this year, rising 55 percent from a year earlier.

Revenue from special purpose vehicles grew 108 percent in the first half on a yearly basis. The firm's electronic information sector saw sales increase 66 percent with the material sector gaining 58 percent in the period year on year. Environmental protection facilities' revenue climbed 44 percent in the first six months compared with a year ago, according to the country's largest plane maker. Its revenue from air-conditioners surged 165 percent and auto parts gained 56 percent in the first half, the company said in a statement.

The group is working to reach 1 trillion yuan in sales by 2020, with non-aviation civilian products accounting for 40 percent of the total.

Annual revenues from special purpose vehicles, auto parts and new-energy sectors are expected to each exceed 100 billion yuan by 2020.
