AIR China raised ticket prices of first-class and business-class seats on 43 domestic routes starting yesterday after the aviation regulator allowed domestic carriers to decide prices on domestic flights.

Among the 43 routes, first-class tickets of routes linking Beijing with Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou were priced as high as 2.3 times of full-fare economy-class ticket price and business-class tickets were priced as high as 1.8 times, according to Ctrip.com. First-class tickets on another 40 routes cost about twice as much as economy class, and business-class tickets were priced 150 percent higher.

Previously, carriers had to set their first-class ticket price on domestic flights at 1.5 times full-fare economy prices.
