Air traffic takes off
CHINESE airlines carried a record 479,600 tons of cargo in March, an increase of 39.7 percent from a year earlier, the Civil Aviation Administration of China announced on its Website yesterday.
Meanwhile, the airlines flew 21.73 million passengers, a rise of 20.3 percent from a year earlier, with the number of passengers on international routes surging 31.9 percent to 1.55 million, the CAAC said.
The aviation industry made 3.83 billion yuan (US$561 million) in net income last month, an annual surge of 142 percent. Profits of airlines gained 112.7 percent to 2.72 billion yuan and those of airports jumped 352.7 percent to 870 million yuan.
