Air travelers to be charged with new fee
China will continue to charge civil aviation development fee of 50 yuan (US$7.9) for domestic routes and 90 yuan for international routes.
The fee will replace the airport construction fee and the civil aviation infrastructure fee, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement today.
Money raised from the fee charges will be used to fund the construction and renovation of the country's civil aviation facilities and to subsidize airport operators, the ministry said.
Customers of regional airlines will be exempt from such charges.
Airport construction fees have been collected since 2007. The charging of the new fee will begin at the end of 2015.
