DHL opens transport hub in Wuhan

LOGISTICS giant DHL Supply Chain yesterday opened a domestic transport hub in Wuhan City, central China's Hubei Province.

The new facility, covering an area of 3,080 square meters, is in the Wuhan Economy and Technology Development Zone and will be open around the clock.

"The new Wuhan hub will provide us with superior infrastructure to serve our existing customers primarily in the strong automotive and hi-tech industries in Wuhan and Hubei," said Martin Rowe, vice president for transport and distribution at DHL Supply Chain China.

Other express giants have switched focus to central and west China after the country's 4-trillion-yuan (US$586 billion) package to spur domestic demand.

TNT last month launched a road distribution hub in Wuhan, and Fedex Express has upgraded its customer service center there.
