Didi Kuaidi ride-hailing app roams into US
DIDI Kuaidi said yesterday that a roaming version of its ride-hailing app will go live in the United States today.
The service will give users access to the US-based Lyft driver network in almost 200 cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle, via their existing app, the Chinese firm said in a statement.
Didi Kuaidi said in December that it had signed a four-way deal with market players Lyft, GrabTaxi and Ola to leverage each other’s technology, local knowledge and business resources. The benefit for users of all four services is that they will not have to switch apps when seeking taxis overseas, it said.
Didi Kuaidi’s near 300 million users can settle their fares in yuan via the Alipay and WeChat payment services, it said.
It did not say how revenue would be split with Lyft, but said it will evaluate the arrangement at the end of the year.
