Italian company receives 2nd vessel
ZHOUSHAN Jinhaiwan Shipyard Co has delivered a dry bulk carrier in Zhejiang Province to Rizzo-Bottiglieri-De Carlini Armatori SpA, the second vessel for the Italian ship owner.
The 176,000-deadweight-ton ship, christened Ugo De Carlini, will be chartered to China Minmetals Corp under a long-term agreement.
"We hope to gain more shipping business for routes to and from China, and our presence in China will be long-term," said Giuseppe Mauro Rizzo, managing director and CEO of the Italian company.
Jinhaiwan, in which Grand China Logistics Group, a subsidiary of HNA Group, holds a 50 percent stake, delivered a twin sister vessel, Roberto Rizzo, to the ship owner company in October.
The Italian company plans to order 17 more cargo and oil carriers with Chinese and Japanese shipyards in the next two years after signing contracts worth US$1 billion for 14 ships with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co.
