Jet passes tests
CHINA’S first domestically made regional passenger jet yesterday successfully completed crosswind tests in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The twin-engine ARJ21-700 passed the 13-day ground tests, which measure the aircraft’s ability to withstand strong crosswinds, at Xilinhot Airport, the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, the manufacturer, said yesterday. Strong crosswinds can blow a plane off course and make it difficult to take off and land. The test, along with other tests in various extreme weather conditions, aims to upgrade the ability of the aircraft to operate in highland areas, COMAC said.
