CHINA'S first passenger jumbo jet, the C919, yesterday passed the primary designing evaluation from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as further planning on the aircraft's details began.

The jet from the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, also known as Comac, will have a flying range of 4,075 kilometers with 150 seats according to the primary designs, the Shanghai-based plane maker said.

The company said the C919 is due to make its first flight in 2014 and enter service within two years.

The plane has received 215 order books from 10 Chinese companies. In the latest order, Comac won a deal for 20 C919 aircraft from the China Aircraft Leasing Co.
