Lab aims to cover gap in aircraft materials testing
CHINA’S first joint-venture civil aviation test lab has been launched in Shanghai University to test plane-making materials, officials said yesterday.
The Shanghai Civil Aviation Test Laboratory, a joint venture between UK-based Element Materials Technology and local aviation technology company Yuheng, offers a platform to test structural materials and key parts of aircraft, according to the university.
The new lab will help China’s civil aviation industry to overcome deficiency in aircraft material testing, said Luo Hongjie, Party secretary of the university. The lab will also help improve quality management and production efficiency on home-made aviation materials to ensure that they are able to enter international markets, which they are not at present.
