Train maker gets vital certification
CHINA’S top train manufacturer yesterday received the country’s first certificate to export rolling stock to Europe from Germany’s safety standards firm TUV Rheinland.
CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co received the Technical Specification for Interoperability in Shanghai, which means the quality of its products is recognized and the trains can be exported to the European Union.
“The certificate is like a passport for the company’s products to EU nations,” said Vincent Tan, rail vice president for Asia-Pacific and China of TUV Rheinland.
With the certificate, CRRC’s bullet trains will firstly be exported to Macedonia, followed by Turkey and other nations along the Belt and Road, according to the train maker.
TUV Rheinland has spent three years in testing and supporting CRRC to meet the technical standards, said Tan.
