Travelers save 1 day on United’s new daily San Francisco flight

UNITED Airlines is offering travelers an option to save one day going from Shanghai to the US west coast by taking advantage of the time difference.

Departing from Shanghai at the mid-night, passengers will arrive at San Francisco in the evening, the previous day.

The new daily service is an alternative to United’s original Shanghai-San Francisco flight that departs in the afternoon and arrives in the morning.

Passengers can now choose to travel by day or by night with United aircraft that depart from Shanghai twice a day.

For the new service, United uses the world’s most advanced passenger aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with on-board Wi-Fi and tailored services to appeal Chinese passengers.

Passengers experience greater comfort with improved lighting, bigger windows, larger overhead bins, lower cabin altitude and enhanced ventilation systems, among other passenger-friendly features.

The Shanghai flights also feature amenities and services designed for Chinese passengers, including Mandarin-speaking flight attendants; personalized inflight entertainment options, including Chinese-language services; and a wide selection of inflight meals and beverages, including Chinese-style cuisine.

The 787-9 Dreamliner has a total of 252 seats in two cabins — 48 in brand new United Polaris business class, and 204 in United Economy, including 88 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

United Economy offers complimentary food, beer, wine, soft drinks and inflight entertainment.

Seats feature an adjustable headrest and a 22.8-cm personal seat-back monitor delivering a personal on-demand inflight entertainment system.

United Economy Plus offers up to 12.7cm of extra legroom. Located near the front of the Economy cabin, the seats give the added benefit of allowing a swifter exit from the plane upon arrival.

Starting this month, the United Polaris business class is introduced on its long-haul intercontinental flights, including the Shanghai-San Francisco service, with a new inflight food and beverage experience, new custom bedding from Saks Fifth Avenue and new amenity kits.

United Polaris is the airline’s most significant product transformation in more than a decade, featuring a reimagined, sleep-enhancing, departure-to-landing experience for intercontinental passengers.

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, United has worked with leading luxury specialty store Saks Fifth Avenue for custom-designed bedding.

All designed to provide the best sleep in the sky, the new bedding collection will feature plush duvets, lightweight day-blankets and a large and small pillow for each United Polaris customer.

Slippers will be available on all flights, and customized United Polaris pajamas will be available by request.

New amenity kits will feature ergonomically designed eye shades, calming lavender pillow mist and additional products from Soho House & Co’s Cowshed Spa.

Upon boarding their flight, each United Polaris customer will be welcomed with a pre-departure beverage of his or her choice and gourmet chocolate.

While in the air, customers will enjoy regionally influenced in-flight menus updated seasonally.

Wine experience is also upgraded with the highest-quality options curated exclusively by United’s Master Sommelier.

Today, United services Shanghai with nonstop daily flights to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and flies to Guam twice a week.
