770km rail line OK’d

CONSTRUCTION of the Hangzhou-Hefei-Shangqiu Railway project has been approved by the central government. This 770-kilometer railway line is predicted to open to traffic in 2018, starting from Shangqiu in Henan Province, passing through seven cities in Anhui Province and finally reaching Huzhou in Zhejiang Province.

The other railway lines between Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing in Jiangsu Province would connect with the Hangzhou-Hefei-Shangqiu Railway in Huzhou. That means Hangzhou residents will be able to go to cities in Central Plain in a straight line without taking a detour. After completion, it will take only four hours to go to Shangqiu from Hangzhou.
