Airport openings
HANGZHOU Xiaoshan International Airport will open its third terminal - its second domestic terminal, on Sunday - the same day its second runway opens.
The new terminal is north of the first domestic terminal and has 170,000 square meters of floor space, equal to the total of the two existing terminals.
The launch of the second runway will also greatly raise the efficiency and punctuality of flights, airport officials said.
The new terminal resembles a large bird in layout. It will take passengers about seven minutes to walk from the security check to the farthest boarding gates.
Check-in counters in the No. 1 domestic terminal have been relocated as it is connected with the new terminal. Check-in counters in the international terminal are not changed.
Passengers who have no luggage to check in can enter the departure hall through Gate 11 and 13 where 21 self-service machines can print boarding cards in two minutes.
