Calling investors to put money and faith in Hangzhou

INTERNATIONAL and domestic investors are converging in Hangzhou in a weeklong event seeking investment in 10 key industries. The annual West Lake International Expo Investment Cooperation Week opens tomorrow.
The goal of the event, as envisioned by the Hangzhou government, is to secure investment in 10 key industries: cultural innovation, tourism and leisure, financial services, e-commerce, information technology and software, modern equipment manufacturing, Internet of things, biomedicine, environmental protection and new energy.
The week will feature three major activities: promotion of city projects, industrial cooperation and exchange forums.
The Investment Cooperation Week is an important part of the West Lake International Expo, and is expected to boost Hangzhou's economy.
From January to August, the city has attracted US$1.181 billion to 10 industries, accounting for more than 38 percent of the total investment that the city has drawn in. Four joint ventures have been set up with investments from four Fortune 500 firms. They are Hangzhou ASMO Automotive Small Motor Co, Babcock-Hitachi (Hangzhou) Environmental Equipment Co and Zhejiang headquarters of Morgan Stanley and Cathay Insurance.
