Chorus wins prize
Hangzhou Citizens Chorus won a gold prize at a music festival held recently in Budapest, Hungary.
The festival marked the 130th anniversary of the birth of Zoltan Kodaly, a famous Hungarian music educator. Twenty-one choral groups from China, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Germany competed.
Although the Hangzhou Citizens Chorus is comprised of women in their 50s and 60s, they impressed the audience and judges with their youthful voice and appearance. They took the top prize with a folk song of China’s Zhuang ethnic minority.
