Cultural venue plans

Hangzhou plans to build a series of cultural venues and facilities this year as part of the 2018 Hangzhou Qiantang River Strategic Development Plan.

A museum will be built at the convergence of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Qiantang River.

A railway museum to exhibit old objects, literature and railways artworks at the White Tower Park is also planned. Next to the Jinsha Lake, a theater is to be constructed, with a total of 43,000 square meters of floor area. The four-story theater will have 1,400 seats.

A fitness center is in the pipeline, close to the Hangzhou Xiasha University Town. It will also have a rock-climbing gym and an outdoor playing field.

Shangcheng District is to get a sports center at the southwest corner of Houchao Road and Qianjiang Road. The 14-story center will have 10 indoor stadiums for water polo, roller-skating, and basketball with 1,500 seats.

Dajiangdong Village is getting a 17,000-square-meter sports center with a swimming pool, a youth center, a library, an adults education center, a cultural management station, and a basketball gym with 1,200 seats.
