Dog check-ups
DOG owners are reminded to take their pets for annual check-ups and vaccination shots by the end of March.
Dog owners need to take their Dog Raising Certificate, Dog Immunity Certificate, the dog's ID plate and the pet pooch to the district's pet administration office for the annual check.
The annual check costs between 300 yuan (US$48) and 500 yuan depending on the registration location. For the downtown area, including Xixi Wetland and West Lake, the annual check costs 500 yuan.
For pet owners unable to have the annual check during the period, they need to take their pet canine to be vaccinated at the veterinarian office in their district first, and then have the annual check at the Hangzhou Public Sanitation Administrative Center.
Pet dogs that have not had an annual check for two years will need to be re-registered. For new registrations, pet owners should go to the administration office.
Honeymooners
HANGZHOU plans to invite 40 newlywed couples from Germany to spend their honeymoon in the city.
The couples will enjoy free stays at five-star hotels and Chinese-style wedding ceremonies during their honeymoon. The idea is to attract more tourists from Europe to the city, the Hangzhou Tourism Commission announced at ITB Berlin.
With about 170,000 visitors and 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries and regions, ITB Berlin is the leading business-to-business platform for the world's tourism industry.
In 2011, Hangzhou attracted 356,300 overnight visitors from European countries, more than a tenth of the total of 3.06 million overnight guests in the city. Tourism revenue reached 119 billion yuan last year.
Longwu complex
Construction started last week on Longwu tourism complex in Hangzhou's Xihu District. It is part of the city's blueprint to build six tourism attractions in the next five years.
The complex, at the northwest side of Zhijiang Resort, will cover an area of 2.9 square kilometers. The city will try to preserve the old houses in Longwu Town and build a stage for plays and concerts, a dock, a bridge and a teahouse.
The complex is expected to integrate ecological concepts and tea culture with shopping and the resort.
The city also started renovation of Liusi Road, which is a major artery for the tourism complex. The renovation work extends 3.2 kilometers from Longtan Road to Hangfu Road. The project will cost 50 million yuan and includes widening the road, connecting drainage pipelines and upgrading greenery. Upon completion, the two-way road will have four lanes.
Taekwondo girl
A high school girl in Hangzhou has earned a spot on the national taekwondo demonstration team after winning a championship in Guangdong Province.
Jin Xiaoxin, a student of the High School Affiliated to Hangzhou Normal University, won championships in two categories at the 1st National Taekwondo Elite Challenge Contest in Guangdong on March 8.
Jin has been practicing taekwondo one hour a day with her father since primary school. Jin's father often takes her to Wushan Plaza or Qingchun Plaza so she will be brave and familiar with onlookers.
Trademark dispute
HANGZHOU Binjiang District People's Court heard evidence by luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton Malletier against a four-star hotel over trademark infringement.
The court did not make a ruling.
The company showed six LV products they had bought at Hangzhou Ramada Hotel for 4,500 yuan on July 5, claiming the items were all fake. The total price of the real products exceeds 44,000 yuan, LV said.
The court showed the products kept in a box sealed by employees of Zhijiang Notarization Office of Zhejiang Province.
LV was seeking 2.4 million yuan in compensation and an apology in the city's media as well as in the hotel.
Hangzhou Ramada Hotel said the case had nothing to do with them as they simply rented out the shop space.
However, LV said their representatives and employees of Zhijiang Notarization Office bought the products in the hotel and received receipts issued by the hotel.
