HANGZHOU Xiaoshan International Airport is planning to build a fourth runway, even though a third runway has not yet been constructed.
The fourth runway is expected to lift capacity to 70 million passengers annually after it is put into use, scheduled for some time around 2030.
The airport handled 15.3 million passengers in the first half of 2016, while full-year volume is expected to top 30 million. The airport is also forecasting about 41.5 million travelers per year by 2020.
Athird runway is slated to be built in 2022 and put into operation in 2025.
