Fall harvest brings a bounty of fun
Autumn has always been a season to enjoy after the long, hot summer, especially with the harvest coming. Harvest events and various other celebrations in Hangzhou will further lighten up the season.
Hangzhou Safari Park inFuyang City
Hangzhou Safari Park, with more than 10,000 animals of 200 species, is the biggest of its kind in east China. In October, the park will hold its annual Wildlife Carnival. Take an adventure hike or a safari ride in the park and let the wildness bring you back to nature.

Walnut harvest in Lin'an City
Lin'an is famous for its hickory trees. In the city filled with mountains and forests, hickory trees are found everywhere while the biggest hickory forest is near Tianmu Stone Valley, which features some pretty amazing views.

Persimmon harvest at Xixi Wetland
It is not necessary to go out of town for a taste of the harvest. At Xixi Wetland, near downtown Hangzhou, autumn is when persimmons ripen. They hang on the trees and their reflection can be seen in the ripples of the lakes.

Citrus harvest in Jiande City
The citrus forest is situated at the crossing of three major rivers and spreads along kilometers of mountain road. A harvest hike in the forest offers not only a feast for the mouth, but also for the eyes.

Shuangxi Drifting Music Festival inYuhang District
Musicians will play traditional Chinese folk instruments including erhu (Chinese two-stringed fiddle), bamboo flute and guzheng (Chinese plucked zither) on a floating stage.

Organic fish harvest atChun'an County
Throughout September, organic fish harvest events will be held at Qiandao Lake (or Thousand Island Lake). As a local specialty, organic fish are famous for their large size and tastiness. If you're lucky, you may be able to witness hundreds of fishermen using a huge net to haul in the fish.
Carnival at Xiang Lake World Leisure Expo Park in Xiaoshan District
Hangzhou is offering a series of activities during the two-month expo at Xiang Lake World Leisure Expo Park. Float parades, magic performances, clown shows and folk handicraft shows will take place during the day. Fireworks will provide some bang for your buck every Saturday night.

Pumpkin Harvest Festival in Tonglu County
The East China Pumpkin Harvest Festival was first held in Hongdenglong (Red Lantern) Park of Tonglu County in September 2004. The month-long event features many activities including how to cook a pumpkin. You also get to taste these big beauties.
2011 Wushan Temple Fair
With the harvests come the fairs. Wushan Temple Fair is the biggest and has the longest history in Hangzhou. The fair is held all over the Wushan scenic area from Wushan Square at the foot of Wu Mountain all the way to Southern Song Imperial Street. With traditional medicine stores, eateries selling local specialties and handicraft shops, it will likely be the liveliest spot in the cityDate: October 25-31
