Gas explosions
A GAS explosion occurred at a small eatery opposite the city’s Desheng Wet Market on January 1 when most people were still sleeping after the year-end revelry.
A gas leak had caused the blast, the city’s fire bureau said. A couple, the owners of the eatery which made steamed buns, were slightly hurt as they ran out of their place. The woman’s hair was partly burnt.
In the evening, another explosion was reported in a rented apartment at the city’s Zongguantang, Gongshu District. The stove exploded when someone was cooking in the kitchen. The power of the blast broke the windowpanes and the door. A tenant was hurt.
The city’s fire bureau has reminded natural gas users of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning and about gas leaks during winter.
