Lawn opened to public
A ONE-HECTARE lawn in the West Lake park called Orioles Singing in the Willows opened to the public last week.
Park officials said people can walk and relax on the lawn but tents and high-heeled shoes will not be allowed.
The lawn will be closed on rainy days to prevent damage.
Gardeners sowed two kinds of seeds to keep the lawn green all year round. There are 21 big lawns around West Lake. But excessive trampling ruined some of them, forcing park authorities to ban visitors from entering the lawns since 2012.
