Micro movie focus
A competition for "micro movies" featuring Hangzhou locations is under way, with a top prize of 100,000 yuan.
"The Legend of Hangzhou" Original Tourism Micro Movie Contest is sponsored by Hangzhou Tourism Commission.
Micro movies are usually short films made quickly for small budgets and streamed on video and social media websites.
For the competition they should be no longer than 15 minutes, and "be based on or include Hangzhou locations," said organizers.
Ten scenic spots are listed for participants to use: the West Lake, the Grand Canal, Xixi Wetland, Yuhang, Jiande, Lin'an, Tonglu, Chun'an, Fuyang, and Xiaoshan.
The competition has three parts: a category for scripts, running until March 15; the micro movie contest itself, with entries accepted from April to August 31; and screenings between September and December.
Entrants can choose to enter one or both of the script and movie categories. The winning scriptwriter receives 10,000 yuan, while the top filmmaker nets 100,000 yuan.
The jury includes experts from China Film's Director Club and Hangzhou Tourism Commission.
Anyone is welcome to enter.
