Packaging pledge
HANGZHOU is aiming to wrap up the title of a top international center of packaging, industry figures have said.
Set up by the country's five leading packaging companies, the center will be built into a base of packaging design, training, exhibition and R&D.
In addition, it will develop as a hub of world packaging companies headquarters.
"Over-packaging has been the biggest problem for Chinese companies," said Yu Jianhu, president of Salfo, China's paper giant and one of the five investors.
"In contrast, Japanese packaging is simple but delicate, sometimes attracting more attention than the product itself," said Yu. "We are offering a free platform with vast resources for packaging companies at home and abroad."
Zhejiang Province is home to more than 10,000 packaging companies with an annual output worth more than 100 billion yuan.
