Parking lots added
In 2015, Hangzhou built a total of 30 parking lots, adding more than 50,000 parking spaces to the city. Of the total, about 6,700 are public parking spaces, according to statistics released by the city’s Parking Office.
The new parking facility under Zhejiang People’s Great Hall is the largest built in 2015 and came at a cost of 280 million yuan (US$44.44 million) for a maximum capacity of 809 cars. After it is put into service early this year, the underground parking lot will help ease the shortage of parking spaces and make it easier for visitor to switch to public transport when they visit the West Lake.
All 30 parking lots are located in the central districts of Shangcheng, Xiacheng, Gongshu, Jianggan, Xihu and Binjiang.
In the future, Hangzhou will dedicate more land for parking projects. Old neighborhoods, government departments, schools and hospitals will be given priority in planning in parking lot spaces.
