Poetry reading
RENOWNED poet Bei Dao read his poems to a group of schoolchildren on a floating platform along the ancient Grand Canal as the third Hangzhou International Poetry Festival took place in Gongshu District last week.
The 65-year-old Beijing-born poet has been repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. He also held a book signing event on the platform near Gongchen Bridge later that day.
The book, “Poems for Children,” is compiled by Bei Dao and contains 100 poems by 85 Chinese and foreign poets. Some children said it was their first time to read these fascinating and lyrical poems.
