Restrictions eased
THE Hangzhou traffic authority is to end restrictions based on odd-even license plate numbers that were implemented during the busy autumn travel season. These saw traffic congestion around picturesque West Lake ease significantly.
Under the rules, private cars were restricted from entering the West Lake area based on the last digit of their license plate. Restrictions lasted from 8:30am to 5pm every day during the public holiday and weekends from September 15 to November 30. The West Lake area includes West Lake, Liuhe Pagoda and Longjing scenic area.
However, police say they will still implement restrictions in parts of the area when required.
A free bus service running between Huanglong Stadium, Zhejiang Province People's Hall and Zijingang Interchange Center to help ease congestion is also ending.
