Revealing the heart of Hangzhou

MORE than 2,000 photos of Hangzhou are being showcased during Hangzhou Citizen Photography Week, which ends this Friday.

The theme for the exhibit is “Hangzhou, My City and My Home” and the pictures depict everything from the city’s scenery and culture to its people and food. Some photos are the work of professionals while others have been taken by amateurs.

“We wanted to use photographs by both professionals and amateurs because the idea is to make people ‘feel’ the city,” said Fu Yongjun, one of the organizers and a senior photo journalist from Hangzhou Daily.

The main exhibition, “My City and My Home” has several categories including “Portraits of Hangzhou People” and “24 Hours in Hangzhou.” The main exhibition is on the lawn of Solitude Hill while six parallel exhibitions are taking place around the city.
