Salaries increase
THE average annual salary income of Hangzhou workers reached 30,650 yuan (US$4,720) last year, an 11.5 percent increase from 2009, the Hangzhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said recently.
Employees of banks and other financial firms had the highest pay of 113,227 yuan, followed by workers in the utilities companies. Workers hired by grassroots administrations had the least annual salary of 22,193 yuan.
In 2009, the city's average salary was 27,480 yuan a year, according to the bureau.
The average salary, released annually by local authorities, serves as a basis for the government to adjust its social welfare and social insurance policies.
